in-house water design solutions

Design Services

We have extensive experience and in-house capabilities to provide a comprehensive range of design services, allowing us to deliver high-quality infrastructure, process, and MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) engineering projects. Our team supports clients throughout both the concept and detailed design phases, including performing the role of Principal Designer (CDM). This ensures that health, safety, and design risks are managed effectively from the outset.

Our engineering-led solutions cover a broad spectrum of design and technical services, detailed below.

cad, 3d & design specs

CAD and 3D modelling

We provide CAD and 3D modelling services to help bring designs to life. This enables clients to visualise the proposed design in a digital environment before construction begins, helping to identify any potential issues and optimise efficiency. By using advanced software tools, we create detailed and accurate representations that support both design development and project coordination.

Design specifications

We produce detailed design specifications, which serve as the blueprint for projects. These specifications outline every aspect of the design, ensuring that the final deliverable aligns with client requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines. Our design specifications are created with precision to guide delivery during the construction and build phase to ensure a seamless handover.

Our designs are fully CDM compliant. We agree in advance the design delivery strategy with clients. All designs are subject to strict scope control and change management. We carry out comprehensive design checks and design assurance.

temporary works & process engineering

Temporary works design

We provide engineering led design for temporary works solutions. These temporary works designs are created to support major infrastructure projects, deep excavation and for projects that require temporary structures or systems.

Process engineering and design

We analyse, design, and optimise processes, including system design. Our end-to-end services include process testing, process evaluations and optimisation.

MEICA and electrical

MEICA

Our mechanical and engineering designs cover everything from structural components to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, while our electrical design services ensure safe and efficient power distribution. We also design advanced instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater assets, which automate and monitor processes, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.

Electrical schematics

We produce electrical schematics, which are essential for the accurate installation and maintenance of electrical systems. These schematics provide a clear visual representation of the electrical wiring and components, ensuring that systems are both safe and functional.

P&IDs and SLD’s

For works on critical assets, we produce Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) which illustrates the design and functionality of piping systems and associated instrumentation. We provide representation of the electrical distribution system, helping to ensure that the power supply is correctly managed and distributed across the site.

Control Philosophy

Control philosophy and functional design

We support the preparation of Control Philosophy documents and Functional Design Specifications. These critical documents define the operational behaviour and control requirements of systems, ensuring that the design meets both technical and functional expectations. Our team works closely with clients to document the specific needs of the project and translate them into clear, actionable specifications.

To complement our design services, our qualified engineers regularly attend sites to conduct asset condition surveys, investigations, trial holes, feasibility studies, and other site surveys, providing early engagement to identify;

  • Potential technologies
  • Innovative techniques
  • Appropriate techniques including potential for no dig / trenchless solutions
  • Pipeline routings
  • Advise on programme impacts
  • Likely third-party liaison, consents and permits required

Testimonials

What our clients say about us...

United Living Infrastructure Services carried out major water diversion works that were needed to get Sofia Offshore Wind Farm’s enabling works contractor onsite to prepare for the construction of our onshore converter station. The company’s combined expertise and efficiency ensured the work was completed on budget and on time and the development site was ready in time for the next phase of works.
